golf

The game of golf is all about patience, staying focused, and being confident. It’s hard to do this when you’re a micromanager, a perfectionist, or have low self-esteem. Leave all of those traits at the edge of the green, hop into a golf cart, and lets go play golf!

There are five main points to remember when playing an afternoon of golf.

1.Mentally Prepare Yourself.

This goes for anything you’re about to jump into that needs patience, focus, and confidence. Get yourself in the zone and mindset of what you’re about to do. Visualize how it’s going to happen in a positive and confident light. Make a mental game plan of what you’re going to do, so when you get out there you’re ready to go. Don’t forget to get to the course a little early so you can practice too. Practice always makes you perform better, especially if you practice in the place where you’re going to perform.

2.Accept Possible Failure.

We are all human. We all make mistakes and we are not always great at everything we do, especially if it’s our first time doing something. Even if it is our first time and we do really well, you may not do well the next time and that’s okay! Accept this, release the urge to micromanage your shots, and let the ball fly. When you try to take complete control over the situation, your swing will become guided and tight which leaves more room for error.

3.Stop Being Critical of Yourself.

Don’t get on the emotional rollercoaster and jump up and down when you make a shot, but break a club when you don’t. Try to stay emotionally even. Gain that poise and patience. Live in the moment and don’t worry about the end goal of being the winner. Each shot is its own and whether you did good or bad you’ll always have another one to take.

4.Down-Size Your Vision.

It’s okay to have a great vision of how everything is going to be executed and what the end result is going to be, but sometimes you need to let the vision create itself. Guide the vision in the direction you want it to go, but don’t stress yourself out when it starts going in a different direction. Let go a little and see how the game plays out.

5.Get Rid of the Noise in Your Head.

Let yourself be confident in your decision. Get ride of the worry, doubt, and questions running through your head. The fear and the internal distractions aren’t going to help you. You need confidence and to help with this, try focusing on your breathing. This should calm you down and help you take a better swing.

An afternoon of golf doesn’t just improve your golf game. As you just read, you now know how it also helps self growth. You will learn the importance of patience ad how to not always micromanage. You will also learn how to focus and how to be confident in yourself.
