The Components of a Good Meeting
So, what are the components of a good meeting? A good meeting is going to have the right people there, and it’s not going to have anybody that doesn’t need to be there. It’s going to start on time; it’s going to end on time… or early, if possible, showing respect for other people’s time. It’s going to have an agenda and we’re going to follow it—at least loosely—we’re going to get through the agenda items. It’s going to have a parking lot. By parking lot, I mean it’s going to have a spot that people can bring up new items that we don’t have time for, but they’re not going to get lost because we’re going to address them at future meetings. So, parking those to the next meeting or a future meeting. And we’re going to have to know how we’re going to decide. We’ll make the decisions; we’ll have people assigned to implement those decisions; we’ll have due dates, and there’ll be accountability.
Those are the aspects of a good meeting. Make sure they’re all included.
