Every team is a group but not every group as a team. The difference between the two is that a team focuses on a shared sense of purpose and is aligned with the organizational vision. Our process, which starts with the Circle of Trust, allows for group members to become a team. The circle of trust is a process that begins with respect for each member of the group. We teach them the importance of the process to listen to understand. From there we focus on a process of sharing from experience, rather than telling each other what to do. The circle completes when we deliver on the promise. During this training, we emphasize the use of empathy, humility, and vulnerability, and show how these characteristics are valuable tools in the transition from a group into a team.
